November is Financial Literacy Month

IFSE launches Tip of the Day awareness campaign

This November marks Canada’s 8th annual Financial Literacy Month (FLM), the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) announced Thursday.

This year’s theme is “invest in your financial well-being,” and each week has a sub-theme, including: “have a plan to pay off your debt” (Nov. 4-10), “make informed decisions” (Nov. 11-17), “start good habits early” (Nov. 18-24), and “take control of your finances” (Nov. 25-30).

On the agenda for the month is a research symposium at the University of Toronto, co-hosted by FCAC and BEAR, the Behavioural Economics in Action at Rotman program, as well as many other events.

The month-long celebration is associated with the hashtag #FLM2018. More information on specific events can be found on FCAC’s website.

Separately, IFSE Institute, a provider of financial education for professionals in the financial services sector, announced a new public awareness campaign in support of FLM.

IFSE will share a financial Tip of the Day on its website every day in November, with each tip providing simple suggestions and actionable steps, to help readers think more about their financial well-being and how they can improve it.

Also as part of FLM, the Financial Planning Standards Council is marking Canada’s 10th annual Financial Planning Week from Nov. 18 to 24.
