Industry moves: Wellington-Altus Private Wealth grabs advisors from Raymond James

Plus, new faces at Designed Securities, BMO and Citibank Canada

Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Greg Roscoe and Trevor Johnson have joined Wellington-Altus Private Wealth as senior wealth advisors and portfolio managers. They were previously with Raymond James Ltd. for close to 18 years, and bring two associate wealth advisors with them. Roscoe and Johnson each have more than 25 years of advisor experience, including with Canaccord Genuity Group, then Canaccord Capital. Scott Hamilton and Alvin Miller have also joined Wellington-Altus Private Wealth, leaving Raymond James after nearly 17 years. Miller also has previous experience with CIBC Wood Gundy and spent a decade at RBC Dominion Securities.
  • John Alexander has joined Designed Securities as a senior financial planner, leaving CI Assante Wealth Management after more than 30 years.
  • Imran Ibrahim has been appointed to a newly created role at BMO as head of digital assets and tokenization. Ibrahim has more than 15 years of experience in digital transformation, emerging technologies and payments modernization. He previously spent more than a decade with CIBC Capital Markets, including as executive director responsible for cross border payments and new initiatives.
  • Dan Leslie has been named managing director and head of Citi Commercial Bank for Canada, starting in June. He brings more than 25 years of banking experience across Canada’s large corporate and mid-market segment and is currently president of Warehouse on Wheels, a trailer rental firm. He was previously president of Triton Assets Ltd. and also held vice-president (VP) roles in corporate and commercial banking at HSBC Bank Canada and TD Bank.
  • Rob McLean has retired from BMO after more than 14 years to lead portfolio management company Inkas Finance as CEO. His positions at BMO included director-level corporate finance and commercial banking roles and his more than 35-year career so far has included underwriting, carrier relations and business development roles.
  • Derek Perritt has been appointed head of insurance services for iA Private Wealth in addition to his role as VP, wealth planning and solutions with Richardson Wealth. He joined Richardson (now part of iA Financial Corp.) two years ago, bringing experience as a regional manager with TD Wealth and VP level roles at Fiduciary Trust Canada, Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group spanning 25 years in the industry.
  • Tommasco Mancuso has been appointed president of 3iQ Corp. in addition to his current role as chief investment officer. He joined the company last June. The move follows 3iQ Corp.’s acquisition by Coincheck Group N.V. earlier this year, and Pascal St-Jean‘s appointment as CEO of both companies.
  • Chris Hewitt has been promoted to senior VP and global chief client experience and marketing officer at Sun Life, effective July 1, after five years with the firm in senior marketing roles. He previously held VP-level marketing-focused roles at The Co-operators and TD.
  • Michael Sherman has joined Scotia Wealth Management as managing director, behavioural economics, global investment solutions, making the move from RBC after 13 years in similar roles. Earlier in his career, Sherman also served in corporate development and public affairs roles over his 10 years with TD.
  • Jonathan Pagtakhan will be retiring from RBC in June, wrapping up more than 30 years in financial services and seven with RBC Financial Planning as a manager for investment and retirement planning. He previously spent nearly 20 years with CIBC in banking, wealth and financial advisor roles.
